Some days ago myspace added a new music player; so we had to do some changes on the site to allow downloads of mp3s from the new music player…
As the changes on myspace are new, I also left the option to grab songs from the old player… (It will be removed when myspace finish the transition process to the new player and old player songs became not downloadable)… but now you can find different songs on each player.
UPDATE: [For those asking: Even you in myspace only see a music player (the new one), it can contain both songs (from old player and the new one)… but in file2hd.com the songs are separated.
In file2hd.com under the title “new player” mostly you will see songs that were uploaded after the 09/26/2008 (when the new player was born) or those songs that myspace already converted to the new system!! and in file2hd.com under the title "old player" you will see all songs that were uploaded before 09/26/2008 (even if on myspace the files were deleted or are not available anymore on the new player)]
An old tip: To avoid typing the filename use Firefox to download the files …
Now (as before) you can download songs on standard quality and on the original quality (from the new player)
Notes to download high quality versions:
- You can’t download them directly if you live on USA; high quality songs are only available to non USA people. It’s not because your browser nor your operating system… nor because you are on a MAC or PC… it’s because some kind of country and/or IP restriction. (I don’t know why)
- If you are located on USA you will need a non USA proxy server to download this kind of songs
- If you are using a proxy even if it is not on USA maybe the download will not work! Not all the songs are available on high quality!!!
- So at the end, if you can bypass all that restrictions and finally do a high quality download; remember that the quality does not have to be real high quality, it’s just the original quality that used the band when uploaded the song… so if the original quality is 96kbps you wont get more quality… (but most bands upload on 160kbps or more)
- If you find any proxy that works with HQ downloads please post it on the comments…

everytime i click on Featured Playlist (Standard Quality) it takes me to a new page and plays the song through quicktime.
and if i click the other Original Version (High Quality), a google page apears and says the link is broken?

Okay guys, I may have found a way for you to get your original (HQ) versions.
Right click on the original quality link you want, copy the url, NOT THE TEXT. make sure it’s something like http://uk.file2hd.com/m.aspx/
Paste into URL box @ http://www.proxificate.net/.
It’s canada based, from there it will either have you save it
or you can go to File > Save (Save As) and name it accordingly.

why is it that i see a much higher amount of bytes when the download start and then when it downloads its only a smaller amount of bytes ? does your downloader convert to lower bitrates ?

Infinite – it downloads as the wrong file type and is the wrong size (wrong file). I’ve also tried using the proxy list, but they either block the site outright or simply don’t connect. I got this to work once, but now… =’(.

Impossible download songs that contains ñ
This proxy worked for me, it’s in China, decent speed for a international open proxy, about 50K total from 3 concurrent downloads.

However, it won’t work at all. When I right-click on them to save as the download pops up as error and cannot be found. It pops up for every one on them, but the crappy standard ones work. But the things is is that the artist added them about 2 days ago and I still can’t get ahold of them. Someone please help me.

The “original=2″ trick is actually just having you download the lower quality file. You NEED original to equal 1; changing it to anything else will not download the high quality file.
Check file sizes.

I could download all the high and low quality songs from the myspace player. Both low & high quality songs only would download as index.php. But during the download it did say 3mb or 4 mb so it was downloading the entire file. Upon completion of the transfer I just renamed the file from index.php to song.mp3 and it played fine.
I downloaded both low and high quality of the same songs to test and my mp3 player did verify that low quality was 96Kbps and High was 160Kbps. But both qualities almost sound the same.

I’m in Ireland and was having probs with downloading the HQ files too. Used the site from the above post and that worked so thanks! Also, if you save the file as songname.mp3 instead of index.php you dont have to change it afterwards.

When i click standard quality, it just links me to a site where a Quicktime player plays the song. And sometimes when i click on the high quality one, nothing happens. Anyone encountered this problem?

Everytime I download in HQ the song is 160 kbps
does myspace automatically convert it to 160
I would assume most artists would you 192 kbps?

I tried all the above patches to get around the HQ DL issues on myspace and came up short. None of them worked. Any brand new, fail safe methods?

the proxy sites dont let me download the high quality version of the songs anymore… i get an error page saying:

When I try to download a HQ file or an Old Player Song, I get a 401 error:

I live in the Netherlands and use Mozilla Firefox (latest version) on Ubuntu 9.04. I also tried a Chinese and Japanese proxy mentioned above, but I keep getting the 401 error. What am I doing wrong?

I did what you suggested and FireFox could not find the server for the site any more. Once I took the proxy off it found it fine but I still can’t download songs. What gives?

Yeah it didn’t work! So I went back to http://www.docoja.com/red/ and clicked on the button titled “British glype proxy” on the left side of the page. Once that page came up I pasted in the file2hd URL and it was smooth sailing from there. So even though what Jake said was a bit off for me I managed to make it work so thanks Jake for getting me halfway there Couldn’t have done it with out your help.
